Graffiti US-Tour

Freitag war der Tag unser Vernissage bei New American Casuals (NAC). Jason hatte zusammen mit den Jungs von Redbull (ohne die unsere Ausstellung finanziell überhaupt nicht möglich gewesen wäre) die gesamte Location in eine Superausstellungshalle verwandelt. Während Richard und sein Nachbar Shannon damit beschäftigt waren die schon fertigen Kunstwerke zu NAC zubringen, war Seak noch fleissig am Leinwände bearbeiten.

2 Stunden vor der offiziellen Eröffnung war schon die 2 grösste Leinwand von Seak an eine Sammlerin aus Washington.DC verkauft, wenig später ging auch gleich eine Leinwand von Daim "über den Ladentisch". Um 7 ging es dann offiziell los, nachdem auch die letzte Leinwand an ihrem Platz hing. Die Ausstellung füllte sich ruckzuck mit einem Publikum was sichtlich beeindruckt war, und wir die Künstler waren platt wie gut die Präsentation der Leinwände wirkte, die Jason arrangiert hatte. Perfekt ausgeleuchtete Leinwände, 1a veggie catering, jede menge stylische Frauen, und eine super Location.

Denn ganzen Abend über waren circa 450 Besucher da. Vom Kunstsammler, über Designer, Graffiti Writer, Agentur Leute, Lehrer, Studenten, Eltern, Kunstinteressierte, Fans, B-Boys, IT Leute, etc. Musikalisch hatte Jason 2 von 360° Records die beiden local Heros DJ Evil1 und DJ Wicked mobilsiert, die eine erfrischende Mischung rockigen Hip-Hop Klassikern und 80er Stücken darbrachten.

Während Susan (artcrimes) und Jason (battle arts) die für die Ausstellung gedruckten Limitierten Poster verkauften (Später über www.graffiti.org zu haben), haben wir relaxt den Abend genossen, Blackbooks signiert, und uns mit Kunstinteressierten unterhalten. Die amerikanischen Writer waren jedenfall ganz und gar aus dem Häuschen, daß wir wirklich gekommen waren, und das wir alle Leinwände in weniger wie 6 Tagen gemalt hatten, konnten sie fast nicht glauben.

Den nächsten Tag konnten wir leider nicht ruhig angehen lassen, da wir ein Wandbild (Adresse: 210 ne 28 Avenue ) mit Joker (transcend) beim Bishop RocknRoll Friseurladen (www.bishopsbs.com) geplant hatten.

Richard, der den gesamten visuellen Auftritt von Bishop designed, hatte uns mit dem Besitzer Leo zusammen gebracht, welcher sich spontan um ein Gerüst bemüht hatte. Den ganzen Tag haben wir dann mal bei Regen mal bei Sonne auf dem Gerüst verbracht. Es gab super gesunden kram von "Natures" zu futtern, jede menge Writer aus Portland kammen zum chillen vorbei. Aufeinmal waren die Jungs von "The Topic" der lokalen HipHop TV Station dar und filmten, während sich Leo (hat anfang der 80er auch gepiecet) wie ein Schneekönig über sein neues Kunstwerk freute was übrigens Portlands erstes Graffiti Konzeptbild ist.

Denn abend haben wir dann bei Richard und seiner Lady Agnes verbracht. Alle scheinen hier zumindest 2 Katzen zu besitzen. Sonntags haben wir dann das Bild fertig gemacht, Joker hat uns für ein DVD Projekt Interviewed, jede Menge Regen und Sonne, veggie Food. Abends hatten die Jungs dann das Gerüst innerhalb von 40 minuten abgebaut. Und allen waren mit dem Resultat mehr als begeistert. Fotos werden am nächsten Tag gemacht, es war leider schon dunkel.

Abendessen gab es bei Joker und seiner Frau zu Hause: Leckeres Essen, geschmackvoll dezent durchdesignte Inneneinrichtung, 2 Kamine, Pool, kleines aber feines Studio, coole Möbel sowie 2 Katzen die man prima mit einem Laserpointer ärgern konnte.

Ausgepowert und vollgestopft wie Weihnachtsgänse sind wir dann mit Sasquatch zu Susan gefahren: E-mails schreiben, Gästezimmer aufräumen, die überaus praktischen Eastpak Taschen packen (Mr. Daim ist ganz begeistert!). Morgen wird es nach Oakland zurück gehen, am Dienstag haben wir dort die Vernissage.

English: On Friday was the day of the opening of our Show at NAC (new american casual). Jason had rearanged together with the Redbull crew the complete place. While Richard and Shannon were transporting the Artwork to NAC, Seak was still working on the last Canvases.

Two hours before the official Opening, Seak had already sold his Second biggest Canvases to an Artcollector from Washington DC. Daim sold another painting a little bit later. At 7 o'clock finally everyone was there, the last canvases hanged, and the audience arrived. Everyone seemed to be impressed, and also we, the artist were stoked about the very good presentation of our paintings. Jason turned out to be a full on event organiser Pro. Veggie Catering, perfect lightning, lots of stylish ladys, such a great venue.

After 2 hours we had a crowd of 450 People!!!!! All kinds of different People were in the audience: Writers, collectors, B-Boys, Agency people, Designer, Students, Teacher, Parents, Art Admires. The other Jason (Portland is packed with "Jasons") from 360° Recordstore hooked up the Localheros Dj Evil 1 and Dj Wicked, which kicked a fresh mixture out of 80ies and HipHop classic's.

While Susan and Richard were selling lots of limited Posters (you can order them in the next days thru www.graffiti.org ), we enjoyed the great evening, signed some blackbooks and chatted with the local collectors and Writers.

The next day we went to 210 ne 28 Avenue to the bishop barbershop (http://www.bishopsbs.com) to paint a mural together with Joker(transcend).

Richard, who does all the designstuff for bishop hooked up the link to the owner Leo, which had organised a scaffolding. The complete day we spend painting on the scaffold, Leo hooked up the healthiest food ever from the "natures" shop from arround the corner, lots of local writers showed up, the crew of the local HipHop TV Show "the Topic" showed up filming. When the rain started to become more worse the local writers Ben, Matt, Ernie and Ariel started to build a roof on the topfloor of the scaffolding. Leo (he used to write "wacky" back in 1983) was offiously more than excited about how his sidewall develloped into Portland`s first Graffiti Mural.

The evening we spend chilling, and eating at Richards and his Girlfriend Agnes home: lots of original artwork, cool toy collection, ... (note: everyone seems to have here at least 2 cats). On Sunday we finished the wall at Bishop`s: lots of cool people, positive vibes, joker interviewed us for Art Crimes, a new Haircut for Seak, lots of rain and sunshine, again veggie burgers from "natures. At 7 o´clock in the evening we were ready, and in about 40 minutes the scaffolding was down and we were all happy how fine the mural turned out. We will take photos the next day, it was already dark.

In the evening we were invited at the Home of Joker and his wife Rachel. Again super food, a great sense for interior design, 2 fireplaces, a jaquzzi, and a nice Studio aswell as… 2 cats (laserpointer and cats can be great fun).

Exhausted and stuffed like x-mas turkeys we ended up with Sasquatch at Susan`s place: Starting to clean up our guestrooms, repacking our bags and bagpacks (thanks to eastpak for the practiable gear), checking our mails. Tomorrow we will fly back to Oakland, on Thuesday we will have the opening of our next show there.
